Merchants and online brands can now gain insights into the crucial holiday selling season with Signifyd’s new, dynamic visualization of up-to-the-minute holiday ecommerce transactions.

Our Cyber Five 2024 global tracker taps into the excitement of the season by pinpointing worldwide online transactions as they happen during the biggest week of holiday shopping — including the days from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. The global tracker provides a visible way to monitor the health of online commerce and demonstrate the success that determined merchants are enjoying during 2024’s peak period for retail.

The Cyber Five is the most important week for worldwide online sales

“We never lose sight of the magnitude of the work our merchants do to serve their customers during the holiday season, including during the Cyber Five in particular,” said Signifyd CEO Raj Ramanand. “We wanted to find a way to show the world what that looks like, realizing that not only does a picture paint a thousand words; it can tell an inspirational and informative story by illustrating millions of transactions.”

The importance of the Cyber Five is hard to overstate. The five-day period is expected to account for 15.5% of all online holiday shopping this year, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday representing the two biggest ecommerce sales days of 2024, according to eMarketer. Last holiday season broke all records, according to Digital Commerce 360, registering the highest ecommerce sales for any quarter in history — $324.8 billion. And it’s likely that 2024 will set another record.

During last year’s Cyber Five, Signifyd’s AI-driven Commerce Protection Platform at its peak:

  • Reviewed 10,337 very risky orders an hour, based on red flags accompanying transactions.
  • Prevented $3.65 million in fraud and abusive orders per hour.
  • Approved $2.3 million in orders per hour that inferior systems would have otherwise declined.

Where to find statistics

The Cyber Five page features a world map with glowing arcs representing the time and place of ecommerce purchases, in addition to real-time trackers registering the number of risky transactions reviewed by the hour, the value of fraudulent and abusive orders prevented and the value of sales approved that would have been declined without Signfyd. The site also provides insights into the highest-priced orders by the hour and charts performance day-by-day compared to an average day in 2024.

The Cyber 5 2024 globe page supplements Signifyd’s ongoing Holiday Season Pulse Tracker, which provides updated data covering online sales by retail vertical, fraud threat, average order value and more throughout the fourth quarter.

Where the statistics come from

A nimble, cross-functional group of Signifyd professionals who are hopelessly fascinated by holiday shopping trends built the global page and visualization in the run-up to Cyber Week. The data for the page and for Signifyd’s Holiday Season Pulse tracker is derived from the Signifyd Commerce Network of thousands of merchants worldwide.

Commerce Network intelligence also powers Signifyd’s Commerce Protection Platform, which leverages AI-driven machine learning models and data from billions of transactions to detect and block fraudulent activity while increasing the number of good orders approved. Signifyd has seen more than 650 million unique shopper wallets globally, meaning that 98% of the time when a shopper comes to a Signifyd-protected site, Signifyd’s machine-learning models recognize the shopper instantly.
